DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS FOR QA/QC ENGINEERS

QA stands for Quality assurance & QC stands for Quality control. QA/QC is the combination of quality assurance, the process or set of processes used to measure and assure the quality of a product, and quality control, the process of ensuring products and services meet consumer expectations. 

Quality Assurance is process-oriented and focuses on defect prevention, while quality control is product-oriented and focuses on defect identification. For QA, Method documents and work procedures will be prepared and implemented. For QC, Quality checklists will be prepared and inspecting the works for the quality after construction.

Duties and Responsibilities of QA/QC Engineers

• The preparation of the companies QA manual control and supervision of all amendments and revisions

• Develop and determine all standards to perform inspection and tests on all procedures and oversee all testing methods and maintain high standards of quality for all processes

• Control and the distribution of all the companies quality documentation

• Monitor all quality related activities on the project

• Perform all internal and external audits on behalf of the companies management

• Verify contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals

• Attend all pre-bid meetings and coordinate all project requirements with the project bidders

• Attend client quality management meetings

• The preparation and control of project quality system management documentation prior to project commencement

• Review quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements

• Review quality of all materials at site and ensure compliance with all project specifications and quality and collaborate with the department for all material procurement and maintain the quality of materials

• Monitor the disposition of all issued nonconformance reports

• Supervise effective implementation of all test and inspection schedule and ensure

adherence to all procedures and coordinate with various teams to perform quality audits on processes

• Responsible for QA/QC documents of the complete project including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered, and other important QA/QC documents

• Coordinate all QA/QC activities with the site QC manager

• Coordinate all QA/QC activities with the site QA/QC procurement manager

• Coordinate all quality related correspondence with the customers representatives

• Monitor statistical method reporting

• Action and close all customer complaints

• Control all achieve documentation upon the completion of the project

Competencies / Skill Set required: 

• Knowledge of IS Codes for construction and ensuring Quality standards

• Well versed with ISO principles of QA/QC 

• Developing and documenting Test Procedures

• Continuous improvement in Quality

QA/QC Managers

As a construction quality control manager, your job is to inspect a project before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with all quality specifications. To accomplish this, you develop and maintain a quality control (QC) plan, create documents and forms to track your findings, and supervise most construction work with QC team. You may also represent your company in any matters, legal or otherwise, related to quality. You also conduct audits on projects and paperwork, assist project managers with developing construction plans, evaluate and track noncompliance with safety plans also.
